St. Doval Moonlight Official Video

“St. Doval Illuminates Toronto’s Music Scene with ‘Moonlight’

Toronto’s own JC Sandoval now also known as St. Doval has once again proven why he’s a star in Canada’s vibrant music landscape. His latest single, “Moonlight” is a mesmerizing blend of atmospheric indie rock and soulful vocals that showcases St. Doval’s growth as an artist and his ability to craft deeply emotive soundscapes that reach people.

“Moonlight” opens with an almost cheerful kind of hopeful guitar riff that immediately captures your interest, drawing listeners into St. Doval’s seemingly awakened state of mind. His vocals enter like a strong breeze, carrying the lyrics. The chorus explodes into a cathartic release, with St. Doval’s voice soaring over lush instrumentation. This made me feel the same emotions I felt in 1991 listening to Temple of the Dog – Hunger Strike.   The calm but powerful opening guitar riffs and then the voices of  Chris Cornell & Eddie Vedder in that iconic song.

The accompanying music video for “Moonlight” is also just right. It perfectly complements the song’s dreamy essence. Directed by up-and-coming Toronto filmmaker Sarah Chen. The video caught my eye to the extent I had to reach out to St. Doval and ask to cover this great peace of work and share it with all of you.

With “Moonlight,” St. Doval has not only delivered a standout single with an epic video. He has also cemented in my mind he is a fabulous solo artist. This track is sure to resonate with fans of introspective indie rock from today and maybe even some fans who still crave a bit of Seattle Grunge done with a modern twist.
